Camping Rules Minimize

RELAY FOR LIFE IS A FAMILY EVENT. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL OR SMOKING IS PERMITTED AT THIS EVENT. NO PETS (even on leashes) ARE PERMITTED WITHIN THE STADIUM COMPLEX AT ANY TIME – EVEN DURING SETUP.

  • CAMPSITES WILL BE ASSIGNED: Team captains should turn in their campsite request form by June 6th. We will make every attempt to meet everyone’s needs, but in cases of similar requests priority will be given to the earliest registered team. Please be patient, be flexible, and remember that every spot inside the stadium is a good one because it’s about WHY we’re there, not WHERE we are there.
  • SETUP/TEAR DOWN: SETUP - Teams may setup their campsite beginning Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. Setup will continue throughout the day on Friday. All personal vehicles must be out of the stadium by 5:00 p.m. Friday. TEARDOWN – Teams are asked to leave their campsites exactly as they found them including depositing all trash in trash cans. Please ask us if you need a trash bag. All gates will be open at 12 Noon Saturday following closing ceremonies. No vehicles may enter the stadium until 12 Noon. Persons willing to assist the committee with event tear-down are much appreciated – it usually doesn’t take long.
  • TENTS (CAMPING): All tents must be setup in the designated campsite areas. Absolutely no tents may be setup on the football field or inside the track fence because of the underground irrigation system. Additionally no tents may be setup between the baseball fence and the stadium (see map) for the same reason. When in doubt,
please ask before you put any stakes in the ground.
  • TENTS (RENTAL): Tents may be rented if you wish and must be contracted/paid for by the individual team. The committee has contracted the tents for the event from Brent's Tents– they will offer teams good rates for tent rentals and will set them up at the same time the event tents are set (Thursday afternoon). In order to rent a tent, please contact Steve Steele at 419-303-2732.
  • CAMPERS/TRAILERS: Tent camping is preferred. If you bring a camper/trailer for your campsite, please keep the size to a minimum….pop-ups are preferred. All campers must be set Thursday night and cannot be removed prior to 12 Noon on Saturday. We reserve the right to deny a camper parking inside the fence if it is deemed to be too large. Also, please note that depending on the weather you may or may not be able to pull any camper inside the stadium. If it’s too wet we’ll have to park all of the campers in the back parking lot.
  • CAMPFIRES: Campfires are permitted as long as they are contained in above ground firepits so as not to burn the grass. All ash should be removed from the grounds and not placed in trash cans or anywhere in the stadium. DO NOT BURN TRASH in the campfires – there are ample trash cans available throughout the stadium complex.
  • ELECTRIC/WATER: There is no electric or water available except right by the stadium. If you need close proximity to electric or water for your fundraiser you may choose to setup a site separate from your campsite (most teams keep their fundraisers at their campsite when possible). Generators are also permitted provided that they are safely administered and do not cause too much noise.
  • GATES: The two gates at the south end of the stadium will be open throughout the event, as will the Augsburger Road gate at the north end. The Bentley Road gate will close at 5:00 p.m. Friday and will not reopen until 12 noon Saturday.
  • RESTROOMS: Men’s and women’s restrooms are available under the grandstand.
  • PARKING: All personal vehicles must be parked outside the stadium fence in the university parking lots, with the exception of the north parking lot (handicapped parking/EMS parking). No vehicles may be parked in the grass along the Bentley Road fence.
  • PARKING (HANDICAPPED): The handicapped parking lot is located at the north end of the stadium off Augsburger Rd. You may pull right up to the concrete pad at the stadium to drop off if you wish and then park in that lot (inside the stadium fence). This lot is also the drive-up area for the chicken BBQ.

WRIST BAND POLICY
We will again be using wristbands to help keep track of kids spending the night at Relay. Kids are very welcome at Relay, we just want to know who is there and who they belong to - and to make sure each child in attendance has a responsible adult on-site.

1. All children under age 18 who plan to spend the night at Relay MUST wear a purple wristband. This requirement will be enforced beginning at midnight.

2. We will write the name of either A.) the team the child is on (mostly for high school kids) or B.) we will write the name of the adult who is responsible for that child at Relay.

3. Wristbands should be worn snug so that they cannot be removed without cutting.

4. Only adults can pick up the wrist bands at the registration table.

Thanks for helping to ensure a safe and happy Relay for everyone!
